Welcome! My wife and I just returned from the States - and we don't often check the SEL Canada Ning site. I think your connection between Trinidad and Canada is cool.
We spent only fleeting moments in Port of Spain on a trip to Speyside, Tobago which was our all-time favourite vacation. I imagine the pace is a lot different than in Saint Augustine - as we witnessed construction of the island's first strip mall 6 years ago.
Are you familiar with PATHS in the US? We developed a Canadian adaptation called EMPATHIC targeting Aboriginal learners.
I'm interested in what you do to increase teacher EQ. That's clearly as important as classroom SEL lessons and connections to the home.

I promote SEL in the school systems of the Caribbean. I train teachers on teaching SEL skills in the classroom, and developing support groups for themselves.
