SEL Canada network came into being in May 2008 as a result of an informal lunchtime meeting of Canadians attending the International PATHS Conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Doug Crossman, Director of South Shore Mental Health Services in Nova Scotia, gets full credit for this idea. All attending thought it was a timely and needed adjunct to the Social Emotional Learning work going on throughout Canada.

Once you've signed-up, please customise your very own SEL Canada page and then feel free to use the site in whatever way works for you. Start groups for teachers or trainers or by categories such as parent education or research projects or funding sources, begin forum discussions, upload photos or videos of your programs and do, please, express your opinions on the site itself in the forum discussion on Site Feedback.

Those of us who participated in the initial brainstorming session hope that this will be of benefit to all Canadians interested in SEL as well as any non-Canadians interested in what is happening in the practice and research of SEL within Canada.
